Madeleine’s Hippy Hippy Slice
July 4, 2009Tomorrow morning Madeleine is admitted to the Royal for a much needed replacement hip operation.
This goes some way to explaining the lack of wonderfully exciting posts about trips and events we might have gone to; as her mobility decreased and her pain increased, non-essential trips, etc. have fallen by the wayside.
This also means that our Festival & Fringe expeditions will probably be greatly curtailed this year as recovery can take quite a long time.
We will make it along to some events, though, I’m sure!
And in the meantime the garden’s getting more attention than usual this year!
All the best to Madeleine for the op! Looking forward to seeing the exhibition when the Festival comes. I sometimes think gardens are a good thing … they can be very soothing – all that slow growth … in fact one of the best books I’ve read in the last five years was by a plant biologist – “Seed to Seed” by Nicholas Harberd – highly recommended. I still feel that gardens would be greatly improved by the recategorisation of weeds!
I’ll pass on your suppoetive thoughts, Gordon.
That book looks interesting, but I’m not sure when I might make time to read it, so I won’t order it quite yet!
One of my favourites is The Gardener’s Year by Karel Capek – full of nice little sketches, too!
