Last Chance to See
April 25, 2008Some of the Royal Scottish Museum has been closed off for a couple of years or so. Most of the stuffed animal exhibits (including the aging Malaysian tapir) haven’t been on show to say hello to!
And now this Sunday is the final day for THREE YEARS to see anything else in the rest of the museum! It’s being closed completely for major redevelopment until sometime in 2011…
Of course, there’s the Museum of Scotland right beside it which will be open as normal (I assume!) but that’s not the same as the old Victorian pile I grew up with and have visited hundreds of times.
Three years. I hope it passes more quickly than I fear! And it should be a revitalised, rejuvenated giant cabinet of curiosities when it re-opens. Hope the tapir comes back!
Oh wow that’s quite a long time! I think you’ve gone there today so that you can see it one last time before it closes, there should be quite a crowd over there today. Photos maybe? If they’re allowed of course.
Take Care Mike!

We had planned to, but ran out of time on Sunday… also figured it would be pretty busy and not really that much fun.
This is the one that’s closing:

although there’s another new one dedicated to Scottish history right beside it…

Despite the different architecture, they do share a common wall and interior access, etc!
(We celebrated World Tapir day instead)
